Doing the dishes after dinner with my new ‘hand savers.’ I looked down at their brightyellow-ness and thought to myself, “I am totally my mother!” Just then, the designer came around and began to laugh. I turned to see if he was laughing at the gloves, and he said, “You’re officially a housewife now.”
As much as I’ve tried to avoid the apron, the mini van (that didn’t last long) :), and certain other symbols of the SAHM, this one I cannot avoid any longer. The endless loads of laundry and dishes and diapers to be changed, spills to be wiped up, oh and washing my hands…again…, and so forth, leave my hands with little time dry. The eczema has crept in and with a vengeance! Sometimes I feel it’s pointless to moisturize or apply the Christopher’s Complete Tissue and Bone, until bedtime, for I’m just going to wash my hands or they will be wet, within the next 15 to 20 minutes!
Well, I know there must be something deeper that I can do. My gut tells me that it is partially due to stress. So I think I’ll have to work on that one, but what else? I’m reading in Perscription for Nutritional Healing, under Dermatitis, and sure enough: it says that, “Stress, especially chronic tension, can cause or exacerbate dermatitis.” Nice. It goes on to say that Atopic dermatitis (AD or ‘atopic eczema’) is “known to affect allergy-prone individuals.” Since the dancer has it from time to time, (mostly when teething), I better keep an eye out for other allergies she might have.
Recommendations: Vitamins B complex, B3, B6, B12, and a couple other vitamins I am not familiar with (I like to start with those that I have or know).
Things to avoid: eggs, peanuts, soy, wheat, dairy (all common food allergies).
also…sugar (course not), strawberries, chocolate (really?), white flour (no prob), fats, fried foods (again, no prob), and processed foods (not an issue).
Embrace: brown rice (that’s us), and millet (need to work on this one).
It also said: not to take too many baths or showers…(wow)
Well, it says quite a bit and gives many suggestions, but I think the main problem for the dancer and I are food allergies, and of course her teething (probably an added stress). So I think I’m going to put her on my wheat-free routine and maybe even go more drastic…gluten-free for a while. We’ll see how it goes.
