Before the weather got too cold, 7 year old cookergirl helped me update a couple pieces in our kitchen with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.  We used colors duck egg, and old white:

The prep table is an ikea wonder (“Groland”) and at $199, actually the most expensive item in the kitchen (besides the bertazzoni oven of course…even though we got that at a scratch n’ dent warehouse).  The darling cupboard came from another artful friend, jewelry maker Alix Railton in Park City.

Yes, these are the same small cans of paint used when I painted our pie safe and dresser.  This paint is not only beautiful but it goes a long long way.  Can’t tell you how much I love Annie Sloan!

Next we want to get some more cocoa to paint our re-purposed school cafeteria prep table.  Then it will tie in the colors of the new pieces with our pie safe.  I know our kitchen is a bit unorthodox but I love how it is so versatile and cozy.  Truly a joy to cook and create here as a family.

Here is where the pie safe now rests.  We used to keep our sourdough starter and other fermenting goodies in there, but now we use it to hold all our dishes so the kiddos can easily get in and out when helping clean up after we cook. Thank goodness the twins can’t get in there yet though…they’ve managed to open the island unfortunately…silly boys!

Thank you Annie for making our kitchen truly one of a kind! xo ~ katrina

  1. Hi Katrina…Jane here. Thank you for these great posts. I wish I was as brave as you to paint furniture. Your posts are beautiful.

    • Beautiful Jane! You are wonderful, so glad you’re enjoying my little corner :). When the furniture you’re painting is such a meager financial commitment it’s much easier to be brave right?! xo
