Another fabulous turnout of friends and little ones! We read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr., which is truly a kiddo favorite. Not sure what the kiddos thought about my signing, :), but Brieanna happily joined in…she was so cute. She knew it far better than I did!
The kiddos got particularly excited when the letters fell out of the tree and the moon came up.
Our activity was to make our own “alphabet puppets”using the cardboard from an old Kleenex box and paper from a mail catalog.
Materials needed:
- cardboard strips
- catalog papaer
- glue sticks
- scissors
- pens (if you don’t want to free-hand your letter cutting)
There was too much excitement, and it was a gorgeous day, so we went outside to play.
Back at home, the kiddos sat at the counter as I cooked, and sang “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom” while acting out the story with their puppets. I loved watching the builder’s “C” climb the coconut tree. 🙂
See you next week!
one of my all-time favorites! we just read it yesterday!
English is not my first language, Chica Chica Boom Boom is one of those books that makes me feel lucky for reading to my kids in English. i could read it over and over and over again.
luckily my kids love it too… 😉
