delight – our wood anniversary, D&C 111

thekiddos

Last Sunday, our Sunday School lesson was on the dedication of the Kirtland Temple.  I was reading the related sections as the teacher elaborated his thoughts.  I turned to section 111 and began reading some familiar verses.

Months before the designer and I had our design class together at UNLV, I was done.  Done dating, and decided that I would focus on school, my career, and that I’d not worry about marrying until I was 30.  I prayed to my Heavenly Father that if there was another plan, that he would have to make it clear, for I was focused.

Not long after this decision, I was reading in the very same section 111.  The Spirit revealed answers to current concerns and hope for the future:

2 I have much atreasure in this city for you, for the benefit of Zion, and many people in this city, whom I will gather out in due time for the benefit of Zion, through your instrumentality.

3 Therefore, it is expedient that you should form aacquaintance with men in this city, as you shall be led, and as it shall be given you.
Believe me, I knew gambling was not the “treasure” to be found in Vegas.  Clearly, something else was in store.  Though, this week, I cannot stop thinking about the last couple verses:
10 For there are more treasures than one for you in this city.
11 Therefore, be ye as awise as serpents and yet without bsin; and I will order all things for your cgood, as fast as ye are able to receive them. Amen.
The designer has truly been that treasure in my life, found in Vegas.  But there were more treasures to come.  The builder blessed us in Vegas, and as the last verse explains, good, has come.  And in my opinion…faster than we have been able to receive them!  🙂
Dearest designer,
I love you soo much.  Thank you for loving me.  Thank you for your vision, bravery, determination, and perseverance.  We have truly been blessed with good.  Perhaps faster than we had imagined, but good in the time promised and planned.
As I contemplate the last 5 years: the wood year, a year of strength, it truly represents you.  I couldn’t have done any of these things alone.  Grateful for our family of 5 treasures that we’ve been working on these past 5 years. Looking forward to  another wonderful 5! (years, not necessarily 5 more treasures within that time)! 🙂
luvs,

The paintings shown represent our three kiddos (gorwn) in age order: the builder, the dancer, & the explorer.  All three paintings were done by Nancy Andruk Olson.  She lives with her husband and son in Las Vegas.  Truly a talented artist, life-time friend.
