The kiddos have been begging to bake cookies the past few days, so that was our big activity for fhe. They also played outside a bit, but it was oh, so cold. 🙂
This week, we’re going to be reading and doing activities from The Complete Tales of Winnie-the-Pooh by A. A. Milne. Tonight’s story is found in Chapter Two: Pooh Goes Visiting and Gets Into a Tight Place. (One of my favorites: where Pooh goes to see the non-visitor-wanting-Rabbit, eats too much honey, tries to leave, gets stuck in Rabbit’s hole, and has to become part of Rabbit’s decor until he loses enough weight for his friends to pull him from his stuck-up spot.)
Ever since the builder learned about honey at library Story Time, he has been fascinated with bees, bears, and honey. Lately, we’ve been cooking a lot with honey. Here is our cookie recipe:
peanut butter chocolate chip spelt cookies
1/2 c butter
1 c peanut butter
1/2 c honey
1/2 c pure maple syrup (the real stuff)
2 1/4 c spelt flour
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp vanilla
1 1/4 c chocolate chips
Bake cookies on a greased cookie sheet at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes, or until slightly browned. Makes 2 dozen cookies.
