Another wonderful morning spent with friends, doing kiddo daily delights! This morning we actually read 2 books, seeing if it was more appropriate (further the concept). But found the kiddos have an attention span for one book and discussion (for now). Perhaps, the more we gather, the more they will want. 🙂
Together we read Kevin Henkes’ Birds, and Robert McCloskey’s Make Way for Ducklings. We talked about things that fly. Discussed birds that we know: their sizes, colors, and such. When the kiddos, designer and I went to the “duck slide” (State Park), Monday evening, we saw goslings. So of course, we talked about that too.
Then we began making our things that fly…birds, butterflies, airplanes, and a shark for the builder:
Some catalogs, scotch tape, twine, and a few magic markers…and we were creating fun flyers with the kiddos!
For Katie and anyone else out there that is looking for great catalogs to subscribe to, for very cool paper…here are my favs:

So after some paper creations, the kiddos ran around with their flying things and then played on the play-scape for a while. Some of our friends had to go, but the Anderson gals enjoyed the flowers and sticks with us.
Later, the kiddos and I hung our flyers and added some more to the collection…
Thanks everyone! Looking forward to next week!
I love your new blog layout. And the crafty idea looks like so much fun! Thanks for the reminder…I need to bust out our craft box (currently residing in our garage) and dig into some fun!
One of the funnest things for us is making something out of nothing…it’s truly such a rush to see all the wonderful creations we can make with catalogs and things lying around the house. Let me know what you make from your immerging craft box!
